Hi. I don't know if you've seen [this post nominating you as a moderator](https://math.codidact.com/posts/282657#answer-282657) and wanted to make sure you have. If you'd accept, could you comment there to say so? Thanks. (more) |

Ah, it wasn't me over-reaching; there was a flag. Thank you; I had forgotten. (And we, uh, need to improve some of our mod tools to make that history more obvious, oops.) I don't know enough math to be able to evaluate the questions and I don't want to overrule the community. Having meddled by re... (more) |

A: What story and TWO-digit Natural Numbers best fit Bayes' Theorem chart? Thinking that I had acted on my own for reasons forgotten, I reopened it in response to this question. The questions do sound awfully similar -- that the methods that answer one would also answer the other -- but I'm not a math expert. It's now been pointed out that this was flagged as a duplicat... I'm still not sure what you're asking. The text you bolded says that the outcome is "almost always certain". It's an illustration of probability and outcome, not a text about plane crashes. It's an example the author takes as given. You seem to be objecting to the example. Is your question about ... (more) |

I'm putting this question on hold for now. Is your question that you want to know the difference between probability and certainty? Can you please edit to clarify your question in your own words? Thanks. (more) |

Images are an accessibility problem (one I'm too often on the wrong side of), yes. We want to end up with accessible content. If someone doesn't know Mathjax and only has an image, I'd rather have the question than not (if it's otherwise good), *but* I'd like that state to be temporary. If we can hel... (more) |

A: MathJax rendering freezes post editor The rendering happens when auto-save runs. We weren't able to solve the problem directly (something something Javascript is single-threaded something), but there is now a preference to disable auto-saving, which is a work-around. Go to your user profile and then to the "preferences" tab. Be sure... (more) |

It looks like some MathJax is rendered there and some isn't, assuming we're talking about the edit of 2020-12-31T07:17:38Z. I see some math and some "\stuff" bits. I don't know MathJax so I can't tell what might be different there; can you spot anything relevant, before I pass this on to the dev te... (more) |

What algebra-related tags do you want to add? Moderators can create the tags for you. (So could I, as an admin, except that I don't know math well enough to know what to create on my own.) (more) |

The platform also gives you some options not available on SE -- categories, article post types, wiki posts (new), lots of configuration options. Math isn't currently using these features and I don't know what makes sense for this community, but feel free to look around the network and start meta thr... (more) |

Question | — |
Who should the temporary moderators be? It's been a couple months since I asked this and we've gained some new community members in the meantime, so I'm bumping this again. As we have set up communities here on the Codidact network we've been appointing temporary moderators. Ultimately, of course, we want each community to choose i... (more) |

I don't know mathjax myself, but I just checked a post with newlines and saw that it used `\\\\` (four instead of two). Does that make a difference for you? (more) |

Welcome to Mathematics! Welcome to the Codidact site for Mathematics! We're glad you're here and we're excited to see what you will build. This community is starting "from scratch", without importing Q&A from other sites, so your community can set its own direction.[^1] Please ask questions about maths in the Q&A categor... (more) |
