Some (most?) implementations of minesweeper do not allow a mine to be hit on the first square that is uncovered. Internally, this may involve recalculating the mine positions if the first square uncovered happens to be a mine, so the player never knows.

I agree a fractional score would be horribly confusing (especially as not all Codidact communities are maths based). An integer percentage might work better but could give the impression of far more voters than there really were.

In your experiments, did you try adding more text to the paragraph, perhaps a word or two to push the $x\mapsto f(x,0)$ further to the right? It might be useful to see whether this results in it moving down to the next line, or just moving further right, out of view. (more) |
