Are challenge-like questions like these considered on-scope in Mathematics CD?
I have this now-deleted question and here's what's it all about.
For every single answer, a different $y$ would be used to exponentiate $x$. The question revolves getting $x^y$ using $(x-1)^y$ and something to add at it. I already added an answer in it for $x^2$ so that when it's restored, you guys will know how it works.
I talked around in chat and they said it felt more like a challenge (something to be added at Code Golf CD instead) than a (productive) Q&A. Now that I want to make sure, are questions like these on-scope in this site?
Answer format:
$x^y$
<Sentence explaining how to get the exponent or straight-up the equation like $x^y = (x-1)^2 + n$, where $n$ has to be an equation so it could satisfy all positive $x$.>
<Something like: "So for $x^y$ (x and y has to be filled out), you can get it like this:".> $$The^{process}=of^{solving}+(the+equation)$$

If your question was closed for being off-topic, then you have your answer.
The way your question is worded, it sounds like the "question" is more of a prompt and the "answers" to that "question" are really just demonstrations fitting the prompt. If that's accurate, then that indeed sounds a lot like a Code Golf-like scenario. I would generally find such "questions" off-topic in the Q&A category. If there is a desire for these types of "challenges", it would make sense to have a separate category for them. Personally, I lean against having these even in a separate category.
